Initially, I was concerned that my cobbled-up hardware was the culprit, but if FCP can play the video stream in the Import window, why can’t it record the stream? I've checked my Import preferences and everything seems to be in order. However, when I stop the Import, no file shows up in the FCP browser window or anywhere that I’ve searched. When I hit the Import button, I see the timer proceed in the upper right of the Import window and I see the Importing (x:xx m) timer proceed. Much to my delight, I can see the video stream play in FCP's Media Import window. My goal is to use FCP to record the video stream. I've cobbled up a converter and a bunch of adapters to ingest the video stream into my iMac. Make it a blank canvas Sketch, draw, and doodle with the app’s drawing features. You can annotate anything: PDFs, presentation slides, shopping lists, and much more. Input video stream plays in Media Import window but won’t record I’m trying to capture video from an old device with S-video out. It sounds insane that Apple would not make their own software on their own computers compatible with videos shot on their own phones. I also tried to download the clip from iCloud, to see if there was a difference between that version and the one on my phone, but doesn't seem that way, because the same problem occurred. I also tried with letting the phone change the format automatically, same problem. I read somewhere that I should try to change the settings on my phone, so that it preserved the original format when transferring to a computer, so I did that, but still the same. I then tried to import the clip into iMove 10.2.1, but I just get a black screen when previewing the clip or playing it from the timeline. I have transfered the clip via Airdrop to my MacBook Pro, running Catalina 10.15.7. Video filmed with iPhone not compatible with iMovie on Mac? Is this true? I have filmed a clip on my iPhone 8, iOS 14.01.
